intraluminal clot formation causing obstruction after laparoscopic roux-en-y gastric bypass

چکیده
abstract bowel obstruction is a known complication after bariatric surgery especially roux-en-y gastric bypass. the known etiologies include internal hernia, jejunojejunostomy stricture, ileus, intussusceptions, superior mesenteric artery syndrome, incarcerated port site hernia, and adhesions. blood clot is a rare cause of small intestinal obstruction after laparoscopic roux-en-y gastric bypass surgery. we elucidate a rare case of small bowel obstruction after roux-en-y gastric bypass due to blood clot in about 90 cm distant from ileocecal valve.

Bowel obstruction after laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.
BACKGROUND Bowel obstruction has been frequently reported after laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGBP). The aim of this study was to review our experience with bowel obstruction following LRYGBP, specifically examining its etiology and management and to strategize maneuvers to minimize this complication. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed the charts of 9 patients who developed postop...

Small bowel obstructions (SBOs) are a known perioperative complication of laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and common etiologies include internal hernia, port site hernia, jejunojejunostomy stricture, ileus and adhesions. Less commonly, SBO can be caused by superior mesenteric artery syndrome, intussusception and intraluminal blood clot. We present a case of SBO caused by intraluminal bloo...
متن کاملJejunal Bezoar Causing Obstruction After Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass
Bowel obstruction is a known complication of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. It can be caused by adhesions, internal hernia, incarcerated ventral hernia, or intussusception. Sometimes the underlying cause may be unusual. These 2 case reports describe patients who underwent laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and whose postoperative courses were complicated by small-bowel obstruction due to phytobez...
متن کاملClot busters! Relief of gastric outlet obstruction after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.
Roux-en-Ygastric bypass (RYGB) is a highly effective surgical approach for the treatment of morbid obesity [1]. Postsurgical bleeding leading to intraluminal blood clot formation causes gastric outlet obstruction (GOO) at the site of the anastomosis, and is typically managed by laparotomy or surgical revision [1,2]. Gastrojejunal clots causing GOO following laparoscopic RYGB occur in 3%–27% of ...
متن کاملInternal hernias after laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.
BACKGROUND Laparoscopic gastric bypass (Lap-RYGB) is an increasingly common procedure performed for severe obesity. Internal hernias are a potential problem associated with Lap-RYGB, and little is known about the clinical presentation and the diagnostic accuracy of this potentially serious complication. METHODS A retrospective review of 1,000 retrocolic Lap-RYGB was performed to identify thos...
